16 BARON WILHELM VON GLOEDEN Sepia Prints Folio NUDE GAY MALE
Item History & Price
A set of 16 beautiful sepia-toned prints from the famous Jean-Claude Lemagny collection of photos by the noted German lensman. Baron von Gloeden spent most of his life in southern Italy pioneering the art of male -- and occasionally female -- nude photography. Here, his subjects are depicted in the raiments and poses of Classical art, like young Roman gods.
This fo...lio includes 16 5.5 x 8.5" sepia-toned reprints of Baron von Gloeden's photos. The folio features a photo of the lensman on the back cover, as well as a Spanish translation of Shakespeare's "What a piece of work is man" soliloquy on the inside flap. Some of the print quality is a little muddy; I'm guessing that the publishers either pirated the Lemagny book, or were working from less-than-perfect originals.
Very hard to find -- a must-own for collectors of Baron von Gloeden prints, or nude male or gay erotic photogtraphy!
Format: Folio with 16 loose 5.5 x 8.5" sepia-tone print, produced in Mexico.
