This old tool is in very good condition: wooden stock isn't all chewed up and has no holes bored in it for modification, the brass shows only minor oxidation, blades are sharp and have no rust (2 steel blades are included). Additional blades are available on the web because the tool is now being reproduced. The original owner has stamped initials into the bottom. To operate one rotates the blade disk to the desired profile, sets the depth and then pushes/pulls along t...he surface to gradually scratch in the wanted shape. The originals were manufactured in Windsor, VT. Type 1 was patented in 1885 and in 1886 an improved Type 2 became available. It is a great collectible but also a functional working tool.
