- Description:Complete 23 volume set of Time Life Books, “Epic of Flight.” > Almost new condition.> All but one are First Printing. (THE SOVIET AIR FORCE AT WAR is revised, and is the Second Printing)> Each volume has high quality navy blue leatherette binding; front pictorial paste-on, surrounded by blind-stamped rays above and stylized cloud puffs below; and impressed silver lettering. (see photos).> A beautiful, full-color, 2-pa...ge painting, unique to each volume, is printed on the endpapers inside the front of each book. (see photos for examples).> 13 of the 23 volumes have their original “Memo to the Reader, ” a loose letter tucked in the front of the book that discusses interesting details about the creation of that particular volume.> The set includes a full-color, folded poster, 29 7/8” long by 21 7/8” tall. “These twenty aircraft, all painted by internationally known aviation artist John Amendola, highlight two centuries of man’s conquest of the skies. Each aircraft is dated with the year it entered service or, for unique models, the year of its initial flight.” From the 1783 “Montgolfier hot air balloon” to the 1976 “Aerospatiale/BAC Concorde.”
