Bookends
With a free style decorativehammering in/out illustration of a rooster with a blue ornament stone for the eye. The itemswere made in the 1950's at the art & crafts stuio of "YAAD" inJerusalem. This workshop was founded by Bezalel (Lilik) Schatz, together withhis wife Louise ...Schatz and his sister Zahara Schatz and other artists. Thegroup created works that were exhibited and sold in the small pavilion in thecourtyard of their home on Bezalel Street. Their father Boris was a renownedmetalsmith active in Jerusalem, founder of the Bezalel Academy of Arts. Theworkshop stamp mark is on the lower side of the bookends (see photo).
It alsohas two 1960's Israeli tax stickers.Measures 15.5 cm tall and 12.5 cm wide. The base is 10 cmlong.Condition:
In good condition, showing some light wear that is to beexpected in a vintage piece - but nothing that detracts from its beauty. Thecopper has a nice age patina. This will make a fine addition toany collection or for usage. A note to all Ebay buyers from Canada: I have received some info that lately the Canadian Post is very slow. I don't know why the Canadian post are so slow in their delivery. There may be delays because of customs checks. Shipping time can be 5 to 7 weeks!
