Here we have a great early primitive redware bean pot that dates between 1850-1865. This piece was purchased at a flea market a few years ago in CT and could possibly be a New England piece. The red glaze is mainly around the neck and shoulder area on the exterior of the pot. One area has some glaze that ran down towards the bottom. The interior is fully covered in the glaze. There is an incised ring that circles around the shoulder. The pot stands 6 1/4" tall, 6 1/8" across the base, ...and the mouth is 4 1/2" wide. The condition is excellent with only minor firing imperfections and some old very small flakes around the edge of the base. No chips or cracks. A great looking redware bean pot!
