Australite 3: Australian Tektite From Meteorite Impact, Oval With S Rim & Wave
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:4638836 | Product Type: Mineral Specimens |
Australian tektite from near Finke, Northern Territory
Believed to have been caused by a meteorite impact from near Cambodia nearly 700, 000 years ago.
Tektites are very rare and hard to come by. This very nice specimen was found by local Aboriginal people, traded with an opal miner who sold them to an American geologist, who sold it to me. Now it is your turn!
This specimen is approximately 18 mm x 8 mm x ...12 mm. Still has some natural patina (dusty red soil from find site). I have tried to photograph the tektite from every different angle.
The specimen is an oval shape. The leading surface has a ripple or wave pattern from the flow of molten rock as it passed through the atmosphere. The specimen has a very small rim remaining on a number of sides (not much there).
I combine postage, if you win multiple lots.
Postage is sent untracked, unless requested.
* Domestic postage (to Australian addresses) is $2.75 standard mail, or $8 with tracking and insurance.* International postage is $3.30 without insurance or tracking, at your risk (untracked but with the customs declaration). Tracking is usually $21 - $30, depending on the country.
Tracking for both domestic and international mail is highly recommended, otherwise the risk of loss (for taking the cheaper postage) is at your risk.
Good luck bidding!
