The manuscript is an address given to the gentlemen of the Teachers Association in Wilson.
The speech extols the virtues of education.
It is not dated, but the latest examples of scientific advancement are the carding machine, steam machine, thrashing machine, and extracting sugar from beets which would date it to the first half of the 19th century.

It is 5 sheets sewn together with thread along the left edge.
The manuscript measures 13 X 7 3/4 inches and is in fair condition due to age toning, stains, foxing spots, a small loss on the bottom edge of the last sheet, and and several folds.
