An antique Victorian sterling silver opening locket and collar. The oval locket is double sided and has plain centres waiting for initials, inscriptions etc. if desired. I also think this would lend itself to have applied decorations e.g. spiders web with spider on by a competent person. The locket opens and still has both retaining rims and amazingly one glass is still present. It has a good secure closure. The collar has anchor style links and a large bolt ring style fastener. This style of chain is not something I see very often, in fact this is the first one I have found in a very long time. It measures approx. 2 3/16" x 1 5/16" x 7/16" for locket and bale and 18 1/2" x 5/16" for chain and weighs 41.2g. It has been tested for sterling silver content using an xrf machine. I have cleaned this in a solution and the years of dirt and grime has come off that is showing in the photos. The next to last photo is after it has been cleaned.
