This scarcewrapper was for CANADIAN CHEWING GUM CO. LIMITED Of Toronto Ontario Canada fortheir RED JACKET CHEWING GUM Brand. Although no guide that I am aware of gives adefinite date of issue for this series it is generally assumed to have been in the 1930’s or 40’s era as I haveseen early correspondence from this company listing this brand name dated from that time period. The front of the wrapper features the brand name, an imageof a nati...ve Indian chief in a headdress with a One Cent price. The front also only list the Torontoaddress (another wrapper featuring thisbrand, that I have up for auctioncurrently, has 3 Canadian Cities listed on the front), as well as the words “For PremiumOffers See Inside Wrappers” . Their musthave been another inner wrapper around the gum that contained these offers because the back side of thiswrapper is blank. The wrapper measures 4 7/16 inches by 2 1/4 inches approximately. It does have some discoloration and wear. I have scanned the front andback of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself. THISWRAPPER WAS NEVER ISSUED IN THE U.S. and IS extremely scarce. Due to the lower population in Canada thanin the US, print runs in Canada weremuch smaller compared with Americanissues. (Because of this the majority of all Canadian non sports cards andwrappers are far scarcer than US. Issues. I willbe trying to list several EARLY TYPECARDS overthe next few days (spread across different categories), including one or twothat are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee and other products.
