A Pair of Vintage Royal Doulton "Coaching Days" Sandwich Trays.
Royal Doulton Coaching DaysThe Royal Doulton Coaching Days series is an all time classic. It was designed by the noted cartoonist and illustrator Victor Venner; introduced in 1905 and was in production until 1955. It has all the attributes that set it amongst the collectable giants. It was produced in both Bone China and Earthen Ware and in a variety of shapes.Coaching Days was produced in fou...r background styles, or colour-ways. The standard background is yellow & brown, the yellow forms the ground and a strip of brown shading is used to indicate the bush in the background. Each scene has a number.The first one on offering is number 1 - "Coach being Harnessed whilst attendant brings in a pair of horses"The other is number 16 - "Man with trunk - Coach approaching through the snow" - this is one of the rare scenes.
The back stamps date to 1932 - 1942.Both sandwich trays have emerald green embellishment to the rims and have fluted corners.Both measure 12 cm's x 18 cm'sBoth trays are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or imperfections
