Sharp MICROLITE Xl W Smoky QUARTZ, ALBITE - - White Rocks Qy, Connecticut - - Label
Item History & Price

My first thought about this specimen was "He paid $35 for this almost 30 years ago?!?!" That seems steep but Eastern US classics are always in demand so perhaps it is not that exorbitant. You won't pay $35...you won't pay $30...you won't pay even $25! I hate those commercials but I couldn't resist trying it for myself!
Anyway, this is a sharp crystal visible to the naked eye and probably measuring just under 5mm or so across. Microlite specimens were re-examined and were renamed in 2010 and unanalyzed specimens are called microlite but there are now 12 species that are part of the Microlite Group (see mindat.org for additional information). The smoky quartz is a partial crystal---there is one face present. The white platy Feldspar Group mineral is albite (variety: cleavelandite)---a common association in pegmatites.
I bought the Reynolds collection a few years ago from his sister. I didn't know what to expect when I arrived at her home to view the collection but I was greeted by smiling faces and a kitchen table full of radioactives---I knew I wanted the collection right there! They didn't realize that virtually every piece on the table was very radioactive (and nearly all carried MinResCo labels---David's favorite dealer) and were happy that we agreed upon a price for the collection. Mr. Reynold loved everything so it was an exciting and eclectic collection to acquire and it had many personally collected specimens from California---many from obscure localities. I still have a large number of Reynolds pieces and will continue to list them here on eBay and offer them at shows.
Please check my feedback and my other items. All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed and I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than a century ago,
"Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense."
Thanks for looking!
