Vintage Western Electric 1001 PTT Telephone Field Phone TS8AN Handset Brass 1/42
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:4692756 |
Found a photo on the classic rotary phones forum possibly identifying this as a variation of a 1001C or 1001J Western Electric handset. I found a photo of a similar handset used on a field phone designated TS-8AN. This one does not bear those part numbers so I cannot confirm this is correct.
Also found a photo of what appears to be a similar handset used on a... US Navy ship board interphone, see photo.
PTT Button is missing, the switch is present and in good condition, it is not wired.
Scuffs, Scratches, Oxidation and wear. Some chips around Receiver cap and also inside the transmitter cup.
Transmitter cup styled like an E1.
New Reproduction Brown Cloth 3 Conductor Cord 4 feet long and terminated in spade lugs. Color coded to standard telephone terminals: Red=Common, White=Receiver, and Black=Transmitter.
Connected to a 500 set for testing, it has good audio and confirmed working.
Transmitter 205784 and what looks like a date code of 142.
Took the receiver cap off and no major corrosion.
Brass handset very heavy.
Removable covers on the backside to access connections top and bottom.
I stripped the original black paint off and did some basic polishing see photos for condition before and after.
