Listed for sale here is a spectacular lot pair of two (2) large specimens of 1980s Mexican Crazy Lace Agate aka Laguna Lace Agate originating from Northern Mexico, and both cuts are exhibiting beautiful coloration and pattern completely unique from one another! Pseudomorphs (sagenite and others) abound in several vivid colors within the non polished red specimen and the polished blue agate specimen with white sagenite pseudomorphs shows great crystalline structure replacement in additi...on to a closed macro-crystalline layer against the agate! Although mining has resumed a few years ago for this material, the color and pattern in these two specimens is indicative of the original Mexican Crazy Lace that was brought to market 40 or 50 years ago! In my opinion, the material that has more recently been mined is not as consistently colorful as the gem from the original digs. Explosives are frequently employed to free this beautiful gem material from it's host and therefore, fractures are common throughout rough material sold in bulk. These two display specimens are very clean, relatively free of significant fracturing, which is also indicative of the early material that was harvested from the uppermost portion of the deposit that required little use of explosives to free from the weathered host. Combined, the two specimens weigh 3 pounds 11.9 ounces. Individually, the specimens weigh and measure 1.) 1 pound 11.9oz 148mm by 93mm by 43mm 2.) 2 pounds 1.1oz 100mm by 67mm by 93mm. All photographs taken of the polished spcimen while dry and of the face cut specimen while wet, including the detailed photos at 2X to 4X magnification, except for the final two photographs which show both specimens while dry. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases as long as the specimens can be packaged in a manner that will minimize the potential for damage.
