EARLY DEPUTY SHERIFF BADGE - DENVER, COLORADO - ca.1880-90.This is a very fine and early Deputy Sheriff's badge stamped fromaged nickel silver in a nice enamel-filled design. The badge is theearly ball-tipped five-point star shape, with a hallmark stamped onthe reverse, "Sachs-Lawlor M & M.CO - Denver, Colo." Thenotation for this s...pecific mark is listed as unknown, but likelydates around the time the company used the mark "Sachs-Lawlor", which began in 1881. Badges with extensive filled enamel on thefront are rare in stock form, and this badge is pictured onpg. 100 of Frank Latham's reference book "Police Badges". Theenamel has partially flaked off, giving the badge a classic wornlook. The badge measures 2"x 2", and the one-piece brass pin iswelded and original. A really special, early and high-gradeColorado stock badge. badge in good condition, shows signs of service use. Badge measures 2.3 inches by 2.3 and is obsolete ----- 100 years old
