Exceptional C19th Antique Chinese Missionary’s 18ct Solid Gold Spectacles w CaseThis is a wonderful antique pair of solid 18ct gold framed spectacles with the original Chinese lacquerware case. They are believed to have been worn by a missionary priest stationed in China during the latter half of the 19th century.The pair has a strong gauge gold frame and bridge to the ovoid shaped lenses. The straight arms are a slightly lighter gauge; their ends have eye holes to allow a chain or ...ribbon attachment. The case is black Chinese lacquerware with a gilded village scene of villagers at leisure and going about their daily tasks. This is a rare pair of quality spectacles from the 19th century that will fit into any discerning optical dedicated collection. The glasses are in excellent no faults or damage condition. The case has some scuffs to the gilding and some minor loss of lacquer (see photos).
