FINE EDWARDIAN SILVER FRONTED COMMON PRAYER BOOK.FEATURING REPOUSSE DESIGN OF REYNOLDS ' CHERUBS AND ANGELS SURROUNDED BY A FOLIATE DESIGN .The book measures 9.5cm x 6cm x 2cm thick. It has 441 pages and weighs 80g. The page edges are in gilt. It is bound in black grained leather.HALLMARKS AS FOLLOWS :The letters L & S : the silversmiths Levi & SalamanThe date letter ' f ' - 1905The lion passant : signifying solid sterlin...g silver. An anchor- the mark of the Birmingham assay office.
CONDITION:The book is in very good condition. The silver is bright and unworn as are the hallmarks, and there are no splits or damage whatsoever. The pages are in an excellent, clean and undamaged condition, and the book has tight binding with no loose or missing pages.The black endpapers are in very good condition. There is a dedication on the verso of the front free endpaper. This has two small holes where the fixing pins have worn through and has caused small marks, Also to the title page. There are one or two minor corner creases and a small corner missing at the top of the rear free endpaper. The covers don't quite lie flat. This is a lovely example with the silver in great condition.
