For bid is an original circa 1920's SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON school fraternity ring, possibly from the University of California. Interesting Art Deco design with a black stone at center with the Greek letters ΣΑΕ vertically down the center. Not maker's mark but "STERLING" in tiny letters. Black stone has a horizontal hairline crack going across just below the Σ letter. It's very tiny and you have to look VERY close to see it... This is a terr...ific piece of college / university fraternal jewelry history. ΣΑΕ is a very old fraternity dating back to 1856.
