Rekindled - Estate pipe refurbishment and repair
Orlik De Luxe
A lovely pre-Cadogan Orlik pot dating from around the 50s/60s. Orlik De Luxe pipes are exceptionally good value but often the grain can be a little flat. Not so in this case - this is one of the best grained De Luxe grades I have seen. Excellent condition with very little darkening on the rim and the chamber is in great shape. Nomenclature is a little faint but legible and reads 'Orlik De Luxe' over 'London Ma...de'; the shape number is L5 illustrated in the final catalogue image (could only find a dental bit sandblast in the catalogues). Fully refurbished.

In most cases, each pipe we list has had the following work completed:
Hot alcohol retort (99.9% isopropyl alcohol) is used to clean and sanitise the stem, shank, and chamber.
Oxidization of the stem is removed and chatter is removed where possible.
Stem is cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, scrubbed and buffed.The existing cake is removed and the chamber inspected. A coating of 100% activated charcoal is applied to the chamber to speed-up the formation of a new protective layer of carbon.
Please note: Whilst the activated charcoal coating greatly increases the speed at which a new cake is formed, please ensure that you break-in the pipe properly. Bear in mind that the walls of the chamber, in most cases, haven'thad direct contact with heat since the pipe left the factory. The removal of the old cake is a necessary evil to ensure the chamber is undamaged and not ghosted and, whilst it is rarely necessary to expose new wood, it does remove much of the protective buffer between the chamber walls and the embers, and the activated charcoal coating only accelerates the formation of a new cake and does not offer protection from the heat.
All pipes are thoroughly sanitized and ready to smoke. Any additional repairs will be specified. Photographs are taken under flash and the colours may shift from computer to computer. Pipe stand is not included in sale.
