1960 Oakland Raiders Tony Teresa ' S Wilson Football Helmet, 1st Player To Score TD
Item History & Price
The Raiders didn't even have a coliseum or one they could use in 1960 and had to settle playing their home ...games in San Franciscofor the entire 1960 & 1961 season.
Tony Teresa played in 1960 for the Oakland Raiders. He did very well being the first Raiders iHB to rush for 100-yards in a game. first player with over 1, 000 combined yards with rushing/receiving & returning. He scored the first RaidersTD catching a pass from Tom Flores in a home opening loss against the Houston Oilers at Kezar Stadiumlocated in S.F. in front of 12, 000+ fans. (The Raiders later got their first win at Houston's Jeppesen Stadium, The Oilers would go on to win the first AFL title against the L.A. Chargers before they moved to San Diego)
The Raiders being the last team selected got hand me down equipment and didn't actually have an official equipment manageruntil Al Davis joined the team in 1963 and brought in Dick Romanski who worked for the Raiders for 5-decades. The helmets were a mixed up mess, that were mostly Wilson with a few Spalding ones as well.
Tony Teresa stats were 5'9" 185lbs... more like 165. Tony passed away in 1984 at age 50 when the Los AngelesRaiders were World Champions.
This is his helmet, I have no idea if he used this in practice, pre-season or in an actual regular season game...The writing inside "60-25" (Year/Player No.) is genuine. I did not add that.
I bought this from a vintage football relic dealer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The helmet is scuffed up, but no cracks and the white insides have aged tremendously.
WILSON ETHOLITE with U.S. PAT. NO. 2634415 BXCode; F2034Size; 6 7/8-7 (Fits smaller adult head, AFL players squished their heads inside, Jim Otto's1960 helmet looks like a kids, this is not a kids, heavy, solid hard shell polycarbonate)
As a gift, I'll add a PSA 8 Nm-Mt Tony Teresa RC (His only football card)***Last Two Pictures Only As Reference, No Photos Included***
