The issue is interesting since it is a special edition focusing on Senator Huey Long. The various articles include excerpts from his speeches, an explanation of his po...pular "Share Our Wealth" plan to end the Depression, and the big money opposition from Banks, the wealthy, and mainstream politicians.
The newspaper is faded, folded, wear at the folds, jagged at the edges, has some pencil markings and and at the top of the front page there is a message in pencil, "Please return to J. W. Morton". Senator Long was assassinated in Sept. 1935. This newspaper encapsulates the essence of his appeal among folks seeking relief from the Depression at the height of his popularity and is a glimpse into the divisions and problems of the day.
