Kernow Model Ships IJN ATAGO 1944 'Takao' class heavy cruiser built by Kure Dockyard and completed in 1932. By 1944 she had been given a major refit with greatly increased AA armament. Now 13, 400 tons, 34 knots, armed with 10-8in, 8-5in, 26-25mm, 4-13.2mm guns, 16-24in torpedo tubes. During WWII she sank the destroyer USS Pillsbury in the Dutch East Indies in March 1942, and seriously damaged the battleship USS South Dakota during a night action off Guadalcanal in November 1942. Torpe...doed and sunk by the submarine USS Darter off Leyte Gulf in October 1944. 1:1250 scale metal model made in Germany by Neptun, No. N 1232S. It is 16.5cm (6.5in) long and very finely detailed. This Neptun 'S' series model has painted decks and enhanced paint detailing. New with the Navis-Neptun box.
