This is an antique French tin ship’soil lantern that is probably at least 80-90 years old. Glass in excellent condition – one side amberand the other side a cobalt blue with a corner crack. Tin has a few dings and loss of finish thatgive it great character. The cap isfabricated copper. Overall very niceshape – it has aged to a great patina. It measures 5” square x 14”h to the top of the handle. There is a permanent label on the front ofthe l...antern that says “Ste Gledes OuvriersFerblantiers, Appareils D’Eclairage Constructeurs” which translates to “SteGledes Ferblantiers Workers, Manufacturers Lighting Devices.” The receptacle for the oil slides out of the frame of the lantern – there isa screw top for refilling on the lower right side. It has not been tested for leaks and shouldprobably be used mainly for décor and not for practical purposes. Great for any collector of nautical ormaritime goodies.Shippingto the lower 48 is $23.
