LARGE ANTIQUE CHINESE SHIWAN STONEWARE FIGURINE
‘SEATED MUDMAN with FISH’
You are being offered a fairly large Antique Chinese Stoneware Mudman Figurine modeled as a Bearded Old Man wearing a Large Coolie Hat sitting on a Rock with a Fish hanging next to his Right Leg on a string held in his Right Hand. There is a piece of White Fabric covering the Bottom of the Figurine, which we did not want to remove, so we were unable to see if it has “CHINA” impressed in the... Clay; but we believe it was Hand Crafted in Shekwan Village in Kwangtung Province during the Late Qing Dynasty or Early Republic Period, circa 1890-1920. The Figurine stands a little over 6¼ inches high and measures 4¼ inches long and 3½ inches wide. There is a tiny bit of Glaze loss on the Tip of the Mudman's Beard and there is paint loss on the Back of the Rock; otherwise, the Figurine is in Very Good to Excellent Condition, without any chips, cracks, scratches or repairs.
