Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod 9 ' 3/2
Item History & Price
Made in USAOn Dec-29-20 at 06:41:30 PST, seller added the following information:All 4 sections are sound and straight.. The ferrules engage and disengage properly. The big male ferrule's length is 2 5/8” exposed, the smaller male ferrule has 2” exposed. The ferrules ...knock a bit, less so at the top of the mid than at the bottom, they will need to be reset to be smooth. The guides look good, the only guide that may not be salvageable is the striper and it is a snake guide. The wraps are still intact and not frayed and could be salvaged except for maybe the stripper's wraps which are dry and would need a re-varnish, if the guide was deemed salvageable, and may need to be done beforehand to protect the silk. The mid wraps all look nice and the color has aged gracefully. The crazing in the varnish could be exhaust build up or may be because the varnish was mixed with Turpentine at one time to thin it for a wipe. A light rub with paint thinner and a cloth or super fine steel wool will help determine if it needs a complete redo. Line weight is not listed, but a modern DT should work, this guy’s rods were all 6-7-8 wt. rods. This lil' beauty weighs in at 5.5 oz and specs at 5/64” at the tip and 27/64” at the winding check. The real seat will accept most modern cast/machined reel feet provided they are not too thick. The rod also comes with the a 4 channel rod bag to accommodate both tips and will require a stitch or two of cotton thread at the end of one of the channels.
