This is an original press photo. Years after V-J Day - Following the surrender of the Japanese Government, on September 2, 1945, US Army troops poured into the enemy's homeland for occupation duty. During the past four years, the people have learned more about the democratic system of government, labor reforms, and modern techniques of agriculture and industry. The factories are turning out large volumes of civilian commodities and the farmers are harvesting their heaviest crops since 1941. They are looking to the outside world for new markets and are rebuilding over the rubble of war. One of Five - Service men and women in all parts of the World sent up on spirited cheer as the news of the capitulation of Japan was relayed everywhere - even to our most remote outposts.Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches.
