Almost as clean as when it was manufactured. I just "wiped" it down with a dry clothe. I'm sure it will clean up more with some WD or dish soap. If you own an Indian motorcycle this wrench is one of those details that elevate the collector / collection / bike to the next level. I believe the silver paint is original, paint is in "better" shape than the close up pictures make it appear. This tool will compliment the collection. it operates freely over entire range.
