There are 3 pieces to the listing. 1. A card photograph, matted in a card folder, photograph size 4 x 5.5", one side of the matting is coming loose which seller can lift and see the size of the card photograph. The image is smaller about 2.5 x 3.25". The man is Dr. William Alfred Knapp, (1846-1910), a Confederate Civil War veteran. There is a cut/torn out biographic page of his life fro...m The Confederate Veteran March 1911, Nashville TN (only pencil handwritten on the side), this appears to be original). A small piece about to fall off bottom left corner. Third a newspaper type clipping of his birth, death and service in 'Company C First Louisiana Calvary: Ogden's Batt...' The clipping is pinned to a piece of lined paper with pencil written, 'Ogden's Battalion, 1st La Cavalry, Lt. Col Fred Ogden, John S. Scott Col., G. C. Mills Capt.' Seller not sure of the Scott name. Some pencil scratching over Mills' name. There is some small pencil writing behind the pinned clipping.
Some of the top of the matting may be missing; a scratch area above the photograph on the folder card and the brown rectangle color on the card around the photograph, which may not have been originally exposed to sunlight
Seller does not know the age of any of the items. Seller only assumes the photograph is late 1800s. Look at all 12 photographs before bidding.
Seller found this photograph in the same place with two other photographs of Dr. Knapp and a daughter Lillian, which seller sold on eBay. The other Dr Knapp photograph had a copy of the biographic page, this appears to be the original of those copies.
Seller does not know the age of any of the pencil writing or whether it is accurate.
Seller doe not authenticate the information, the photograph or the other two pieces.
Seller was able to find information online for each of the men named in the note paper; Lt. Col. Fred Ogden, Col. John S. Scott and Capt. G. C. Mills. They all fought for the Confederacy in the Louisiana area.
