Signed and Dated Leonard Brooks Painting titl...ed Green Park from 1975. Leonard Brooks was a Canadian war artist who spent most of his life in Mexico. This work uses paint, collage, and mixed media to depict abstracted forms. On canvas framed in the stretcher. The frame is wood with guilt gold edges. Circa: 1975. Plate/Image Size: Sight Size: 19 x 14.75 inches. Canvas Size: 20 x 16 inches. Frame Size: 26 x 21.75 x 1.5 inches. Weight: 4 lbs. Condition: Good Estate Find Condition. No visible creasing, tears, or foxing on the art. Mat board has acidified which may cause some slight toning variation of the paper beneath it. Some water damage to the lower back of the frame, but it has not reached the paper. The paper has been taped down to the mat board, with a larger board over it, taped down on the top edge. Frame is in good condition with only one flaw in the lower left corner as shown in photos. Provenance: Collection of a post WWII clergy couple who lived and worked in the US, Mexico, and Europe, befriending many contemporary artists during their career through joint participation in charitable causes. Most of the pieces were acquired personally or from the artists' dealers who also became personal friends of the couple. The couple's heir, also clergy, retired to the Florida Gulf Coast.
