This is a scarce early pontiled flint glass celery vase in the famous Pittsburgh Pillar Mold form with flared 8 point crimped rim....hand blown in pillar mold....crude hand crimped ruffled rim....applied footed base....pontil scar on bottom....10"tall.....flint glass rings like a bell when tapped....8 pillars....sparkling mint condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A shiny clean celery vase with no haze. It was probably blown at a Pittsburgh glasshouse in the 1850s......F...rom the Robert Sears Collection of Somers, CT......
