This is a cool box made to look like a book but with storage inside. It is also painted to resemble a book. It could easily be 1884 which it is dated. I have seen others of these but all were much smaller. It will stand or lay flat. The paint shows expected wear but the box is in good shape. The white is painted to look like pages.
