Original Description:
We are very pleased to offer an antique (late 1800s) white ironstone waste jar, jardiniere, or vase, produced by John Moses / J.M. & Co. in Trenton, New Jersey. The piece is stamped on the bottom with a mark that reads, "IRONSTONE CHINA / J.M. & CO." underneath a British Coat of Arms. John Moses founded the Glasgow Pottery in 1863, and produced white granite (ironstone) and cream-colored wares. The pot measures 11" tall by 8" in diameter. It's in very good, ...as-found condition, with only one chip on the bottom edge (see photos), and some all-over glaze crackling, common to this type of antique utility ware. There is a very pale stain just under the top exterior rim (see photos). A desirable, multi-purpose addition, by a respected maker, to a Victorian home décor!
