For sale is an Old Antique CARL THIEME DRESDEN German ART DECO PORCELAIN BOUDOIR LAMP.This is a Fantastic and Very Unusual Antique Carl Thieme Dresden Lamp.Art Deco era.Circa 1920s - 1930s.Made by Carl Thieme, Dresden, Germany.Hand Painted Porcelain Lamp and Shade.Beautiful Oriental style scenes with People, Birds, etc. Vibrant Colors on a Black Background.Gold detailing.The Lamp Body and Shade a...re both made of Porcelain.When the lamp is turned on, it glows beautifully (see photos).The Top of the Shade has a compartment with piercing. We believe it was for placing Perfume, Incense, or Potpourri which would add fragrance to the room from the heat of the lamp. However, we aren't sure!A wonderful and rare piece of Art Deco porcelain.
Height: 8 inches (20 cm) to the top of the lidDiameter of Lamp: 5 1/8 inches (13 cm)
The base has its Original Paper Label with the Carl Thieme trademark and "Dresden Thieme Potschappel" (see photos - part of the label is missing). There are no other markings.
The Electric Cord looks to be from the 1950s or so. It is exactly how we acquired it from an estate.It Works Well. However, you may wish to have it inspected or rewired.It came with an old GE 25W Refrigerator Light Bulb. The light bulb heats up a bit too much. We would recommend replacing it with a cool LED bulb, if they even make them that size.
Condition:Unfortunately, the Lamp Base is Damaged.One side is cracked and has been reglued (see photos- the crack is running down the base to the pedestal section. There is quite a lot of glue residue on the inside).However, the lamp can be turned around so that this side is facing the wall.The Inner Rim of the Lid has 2 Chips (one which is just above the crack and may have caused the crack) and another small chip on the other side (these chips are not visible when the lid is on - see photos).There is a chip on the inside of the foot (again, not very visible since it is on the inside).The Lid is not damaged.There is some minor overall wear from age, use, and handling (see photos).Otherwise, it is in Good Condition - there are no other condition issues or damage.
