Item: Vintage Soda CrateNote: I am proud of something I do with ALL my wooden crates before I sell them. Lets face it, most of these crates are found in basements, damp garages and basically not always clean places. So, I wouldn't want something like that in my home unless I knew it was safe. Before I sell to anybody I steam clean each crate, disinfect with Lysol, Scrub it down with hot soapy water, Dry it out for 5 days in my heat closet and then g...ive a light coat of NO Sheen Polyurethane to seal it and bring some moisture back into the wood. That Poly also helps make some of the faded colors "POP" which I like. I know many people like to leave things original, but cobwebs and who knows what else aren't original to the crate. I make these as clean as possible before it enters your home and mine and bring life back to it so it lasts for decades more. Also, I make sure there is nothing sharp poking out as well. At the time of this listing, I have a couple more Hoffman Crates listed. Some are in better shape and cost a bit more and there is one other that is near identical condition as this one and less money. Description: For Sale is a Vintage October 1957 Dated Wooden Soda Crate originally made for "HOFFMAN QUALITY BEVERAGES" of Newark, NJ. You'll notice in last photo, there is actually a date stamped on the inside when this crate was made. Hoffman would deliver large glass soda bottles in various flavors in these crates to liquor stores, grocery etc. This galvanized steel band reinforced crate measures 16.5"L x 12" x 12.5" and weighs 9.14lbs as it is. It is actually about a pound heavier than most other crates of the same size. I am sure my photos will best further describe this item. Condition: On a scale of 1 - 10 (Ten being New in Package Only), I can confidentlygrade this item's condition to be a solid 7. Overall and Especially for being 60+ Years Old, this Rare New Jersey Brand Wood Crate is in Good - Very Good Condition. It is No Less than 90% Immaculate meaning if it could be cleaned, it has been cleaned. Structurally it is totally sound with no loose boards. There are however lots of sporadic nicks/scrapes/scratches but that is natural of course being used out "in the field" for years. Some of the graphics are a little faded but nothing to extreme. This one at one time had a repair done to the galvanized steel bands that have helped preserve these over so many decades (See Photo). The lower price of this listing will reflect any of this crates shortcomings. Don't get me wrong though, this crate is simply not as "pretty" as some of the other ones I have listed and my price will reflect that. My photos are anaccurate depiction of this item's TRUECondition.
