Up for auction is a stunning antique earthenware hand-painted creamware cup and saucer manufactured in England during the late 1700s to early 1800s. The pattern features a hand-painted King's Rose type flowers. The set features the nice
glossy pearlware glaze and and the decoration is stunning. The saucer has a curtain style border around the rim and it measures approximately 5 1/8" in diamete...r while the cup stands about 1 7/8" tall with a 3 3/8" top diameter.
The overall condition of the set is very good to excellent for its age. It is very clean and has no chips, cracks, or repaired areas other than a 1/4" chip to the inner foot rim of the saucer and a few small chips/flakes to the foot rim of the cup. The earthenware is still very bright and the colors are very bold with nice contrast and minimal loss. The glaze is glossy with fine crazing throughout and some mild toning can be found within small areas the crazing. It's amazing this has survived this well for all of these years!
