16mm Film LOVELY BUT DEADLY ' 81 Lucinda Dooling Cheerleader Karate Sexploitation
Item History & Price
This action revenge film follows Mary Ann "Lovely" Lovitt (Lucinda Dooling), who goes back to high school to find the drug pushers that she holds responsible for the death of her brother, who died from an... overdose.
Featuring kung fu cheerleaders and high school girls, evil drug dealers, nudity & swearing. There’s a lot of unintentionally hilarious stuff here. You’ll laugh out loud. The score is kind of James Bond-esque with a catchy song that plays during the opening credits. This movie kind of reminded me of the James Bond series in a few other ways too. It's absolutely littered with weirdness! Yet there’s something ultimately lovable about this film. It’s just a good time and makes you nostalgic about a time period when films like this ran rampant in grindhouses and drive-ins.
Regarding the print: It's a print well worth having in your collection. It’s got those little flaws that are so attractive to grindhouse fans. For instance, the color is just beginning to show signs of warming, yet the overall hues are still quite strong—plenty of blues, greens, yellows, etc. There are occasional splices (but not too many) along with the usual hairlines that accompany most used prints. So all things considered, the print has just enough of those minor “grindhouse defects” to be attractive, but nowhere near too many to lower the print’s overall desirability. No Vinegar Smell. Comes mounted on three 1200ft. reels.
U.S. Copyright records seem to indicate there’s no actual renewal registration on this film.
Pictures above are all from the actual film being offered while the print was running on a projector. Film is much sharper than pictures indicate. Some pictures might be more out of focus than others due to the camera used NOT the actual print.
