Vast liberties were taken with the original Victor Herbert stage hit Babes in Toyland to adapt it for Stan and Ollie, and it works! This is surely the best of their operetta settings, as 'Ollie Dum' and 'Stannie Dee' contend with trouble in Toyland and foil that creepy old Barnaby's evil designs on sweet little Bo-Peep. Scary Bogeymen invade Toyland at Barnaby's behest, but they haven't a chance against the forces of Good-- and of Comed...y. That being said, this is a decently watchable print with good sound, though it's a dupe (hence the low price). The source material (Thunderbird) doesn't seem to have had much wear. Aside from splicing on leaders I did note a printed-in splice on Reel Two-- pretty much any wear is printed-in. Not too bad as to sharpness, though the tonality is overall lighter than with an original and there are no real blacks. No noticeable vinegar odor. Comes on two 1600' steel reels in plastic cans.
