Please note this watch is not waterproof.  The LONGINES name has been synonymous with high-end Swiss watches ever since 1832. With its elegant styling and precision Swiss engineering, this classic vintage timepiece is an exclusive and elegant piece of functional jewellery that can be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. Vintage watches such as this also represent a sound investment for the future.
SIZE  26mm wide excluding crown x 39mm total length. If you are new to vintage watches please be aware that gentlemen’s watches of this era were generally made smaller than watches of today. This watch is a decent size by vintage standards, but might still be considered on the small side if you have been used to a large, modern watch. Please study the following detailed measurements and compare them on a ruler so that you understand its size before purchasing.

Width: 26mm excluding the crown.Length: 27mm without the lugs; 39mm total length to tips of the lugs.Thickness: 9mm including crystal.Face/dial: 23mm x 24mm.Strap: 18mm wide at the lugs, tapering to 16mm at the buckle. Should fit a wrist size of between 166mm and 190mm. The above dimensions are approximate.
CASE   Very good vintage condition.
The two-part case consists of a ROSE gold-filled top with snap-on stainless steel back. The gold composition is not marked anywhere on the case but I have had an identical model Longines to this one previously which was acid tested, revealing it was 14 carat rose gold-filled. I am therefore assuming this to be the same.
The case is in very good condition throughout with just the usual light surface scratches and signs of careful use. Please study close-up photos.  The case-back fits tightly and securely to the top bezel with no gaps.  The inside back is signed:
ACIER INOXLONGINES WATCH CO.SWISS23546636
The above numbers 636 are also stamped on the inside bezel showing that the top and case-back are original to each other. The case has been ultrasonically cleaned to remove any ingrained dirt and grease accumulated over several decades and to sanitise for the watch’s new owner. The plexiglass crystal has been polished to remove noticeable marks. The watch comes on a brand-new, light-brown textured and stitched leather strap which complements its vintage styling and rose gold case colouring perfectly. Please note that the strap is currently fitted with a stainless steel buckle. Any jeweller can exchange this for a rose gold coloured buckle to match the case if preferred.
DIAL  The dial appears to be original and unrestored and shows a light, natural vintage patina. It presents very well for its 73 years (see photos).

MOVEMENT 17-jewel LONGINES 8LN high-grade mechanical hand-wound movement SERVICED, CLEANED AND OILED on 20th JUNE 2019. Running well and keeping good time* (please see note below about vintage watch timekeeping). This watch is powered by a high-grade Swiss-made LONGINES 8LN hand-wound mechanical movement with solid gold castings for many of its 17 jewels. This is a very good quality movement and its serial number 7351130 stamped on the train bridge signifies a manufacture date for this watch of 1946.For your further reassurance and added value, the movement has just been FULLY OVERHAULED, (see photo of stripped and cleaned movement confirming this work has been carried out). A NEW MAINSPRING and WINDING CROWN have also been fitted.
As seen in the photo, servicing involved completely dismantling the movement. All components were ultrasonically cleaned to remove any dirt and congealed oil and then individually inspected for any sign of damage or noticeable wear. The movement was then carefully re-built and lubricated using fine Swiss Moebius watch oils and grease at designated lubrication points throughout the movement. The watch winds and sets smoothly, is running well and keeping good time, currently to within a minute a day* (see note below about vintage watch timekeeping).
In order to keep vintage mechanical watches running as reliably as possible, such servicing is recommended on a periodic basis and the cost of this can easily be £150 and often it can cost much more. As this work has just been carried out, please factor this in the value of this watch when purchasing.
Please note that this watch will require winding fully once every 24 hours if you intend wearing it and occasional winding (every week or two) is recommended when not being worn.
*A general note on vintage watch timekeeping and reliabilityPlease do not expect quartz accuracy from any vintage mechanical watch. The accepted timekeeping tolerances for a brand new watch back in the 1940s and 50s was +/- 3 minutes a day and, unless otherwise stated, my watches should still keep time to within these parameters. Most perform significantly better. Timekeeping accuracy can vary according to the angle a watch is being worn on the wrist — for instance, when it is dial-up or on its side. Also, a fully-wound mainspring delivers more power than when it has almost wound down, so timekeeping will likely be different on a full wind compared with, say, 24 hours later. If you wish to check timekeeping, it is recommended to fully wind your watch once only first thing in the morning, wear it all day and then place dial-up on on a bedside table or desk overnight. This will provide a good indication of its average timekeeping over 24 hours, taking into account the various positions it experiences overall, together with slight changing of power of the mainspring as it winds down.  PLEASE NOTE: Cleaning and freshly oiling a vintage watch provides it with the best chance of optimum performance, but does not imply that the movement is in ‘as-new’ condition. These watches are many decades old. Whilst disassembled during servicing, each component is carefully checked to ensure nothing is broken or damaged, but there could still be some slight wear or other age-related idiosyncrasies which might affect reliability. Even if serviced, the age and complex nature of any vintage mechanical watch means that ongoing maintenance might be required by a local watchmaker – it’s much like owning a vintage car. For this reason, I am unable to provide any warranty beyond the standard 14-day return period.

Any problem with the watch should be NOTIFIED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF RECEIPT.My reputation and feedback are very important to me and I want you to be completely happy with your purchase. Many hours of work goes in to overhauling and restoring these beautiful old timepieces and I try very hard to get things right. The very nature of these very old, delicate mechanisms means that once in a while things may go wrong and, if it is within 14 days of purchase, I guarantee to put it right at my expense or provide a no-quibble refund if you prefer. I regret that after this 14-day period I am unable to offer any ongoing warranty, but will always be only too pleased to provide guidance and advice on the upkeep of your watch if ever required.Although very securely packed, on rare occasions turbulent conditions in transit can affect fine adjustment, causing timekeeping issues, which is why I always ask buyers to confirm they are happy with everything when received. As a vintage watch owner, I always recommend sourcing a local watchmaker that can provide you with ongoing service and repairs as and when required. Whilst I will always be happy to rectify any problem occurring within 14 days of delivery, I cannot personally offer an ongoing repair service after that time. However, I will always be willing to provide advice if there is ever a problem, so feel free to contact me if you need to.
