The photo shows the entrance to a War Area Service Corps (WASC) Hostel in Beijing (spelled Peiping at that time). The WASC established boarding locations for US servicemen to wait while w...aiting for transportation back to the US after the war. Several were established in Beijing to allow those in uniform to visit the historical attractions of the ancient city.
