Up for auction today is an estate fresh Rare Original 1920's FULFORD-BY-THE-SEA (NORTH MIAMI BEACH) Florida Map. The map measures 9 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches across when folded up, unfolded it measures 34 inches across and 27 inches tall. (Originally named Fulford-by-the-sea in 1926 after Captain William H. Fulford of the United States Coast Guard, the city was renamed North Miami Beach in 1931.) The map is not dated but my best guess is it dates from the earl...y 1920's as it is a proposed development project. I don't know how much of this was actually built or destroyed due to the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 and the end of the Florida Land Boom. I found this map in an old trunk, it has been pretty well preserved. It does have a slight musty odor but not bad at all. Top right corner is missing, some wear around the edges, a few light stains and a few small splits on the creases. No tape, repairs, or writing on the map.
