Good afternoon from Congers, NY. Please check out my other auctions to see another Chinese silver item being added tomorrow (4 June). Today's bowl is estate fresh and first time to market. I don't polish my silver, I leave that for the buyer to decide. Happy bidding.
Small sterling silver bowl. Signed on bottom in Chinese characters (see photo). Bowl is 1 7/8" tall at the rim, 4" diameter at the rim. Foot 1.75" diameter. 3.61 Oz Tr...oy on my digital scale. 2 scenes are engraved on the bowl, as well as 4 characters. The two scenes- first one shows a house with bushes, a small boat with a figure is to the right of the house. Second scene- a hill, Pagoda to left, small houses to right. 4 character inscription- I'm told that this translates roughly to "Good luck in your married life" (I'd be happy to provide a better translation if someone wants to share). Unsure of age, but certainly 1st Q 20th C if not older.
Lightly hammered interior. Nicely made.
