This antique Ottoman period Turkish Greek Balkan folk art embroidery homespun flax linen display towel dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a homespun woven flax linen fabric with colorful counted, chain, cross stitch hand embroidery work decorative floral leaf tree designs along the bottom ends with fringe trim. This Balkan beautifully embroidered needlework textile display ...towel would have been part of a brides trousseau. The towel measures 29 inches long, with an additional 3 inch long fringe trim on each end and is 19 inches wide. It is in good condition with only some small faint age spot stains from storage and a small numbered paper label attached (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful one of a kind piece of Balkan textile folk art!
