Antique Bolivian Awayo hand woven Alpaca wool. Fabulous bright colours and pattern which with research would show where in Bolivia it came from. Two pieces of the weave are stitched together to make the size. Good size at 40" 28", make a very lovely hanging in a home. Used in Bolivia often for the Mother to carry her baby.
At some time the weave has been pulled and caused a hole which has been kept from getting worse by a machine sewing it. I guess the machine was not set correc...tly as the underneath is gathered or nested. Could easily be done better. However you would not notice it on the wall.
I found a few website which tells more than I can, look them up, put in Bolivia Awayo. Very interesting.
If you have a love of Textiles this is a special piece. I've priced it to take in the fault.
