Set 9 Santa Christmas Antique Postcards. Publ: Whitney. Santa & Children.
Item History & Price
This is a nice and colorful set of 9 CHRISTMAS SANTA POSTCARDS that show SANTA and CHILDREN. These postcards are ANTIQUE from the early 1900's and in good condition.
The postcards show Santa in different scenes. There are a few with Santa holding the bag of toys over his shoulder. There are a couple with him interacting with children and looking at his list.... There is also one of children dressed like Santa. All of these postcards have rich and bright colors. Santa is in his red outfit.
These postcards were published by Whitney Valentine Co. (1858-1942) from Worcester, MA., who was originally a stationary store and then an important publisher of holiday cards. They were innovative to put in embossing and paper lace making machinery. They were also know for the Valentines card business. They have a distinctive logo on the back of the postcards. These were probably published in the late 1910s and early 1920s. The postcards are interesting and attractive, and they have good detail. Overall, a nice selection of antique Santa Christmas postcards! These are collector items because of their age, appeal to Santa collectors, and due to them all having been published by Whitney. The postcards are UNPOSTED (3) and POSTED (6) with cancel dates of 1914 - 1923. One has a Canadian stamp. The postcards are EMBOSSED and some have GOLD TRIM. They have divided backs.
These are BETTER POSTCARDS and are good for a collector or dealer. They will keep their value. Often these postcards are sold as individual items for many dollars each. They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, stains and edge wear due to their age. The pictures show the postcards and their backs. They are shipped in a sturdy envelope. Please visit our eBay store, VINTAGE POSTCARDS FOR COLLECTORS, for other fine antique and vintage postcards and collectible items.
