Antique Corn Sheller Cast Iron Wood Buckeye Made For H. M. Smithson Richmond VA
Item History & Price
Great loved nostalgic piece of Americana:
Dual shoot corn husker sheller with some of the beautiful paint still visible.
The lettering is faded and hard to see but I was able to make out the following:
BUCKEYE - Manufactured for H. M Smithson of Richmond VA
Measures:29 inches wide without out shoot attached
38 inches high
26 inches in depth with handle and wheel attached
Shoot meausres:23 inches at larges end11 inches at smallest end
28 inch...es in lenght3 inches deep
This antique item has been sitting out side for years and the termites of VA have had a go at the legs and some of the shoot. Please note that the legs are all different heights. The shoot does not have a place to be attached due to damage. The wooden crank handle is also damaged due to time outside.
The cast iron is rusted but all pieces move freely. All the gears and teeth are in good condition but as it has been outside have rust flakes.
Please see the pictures for a better idea of the condition and beauty of this piece.
Questions are welcomed.
Thanks.
Please NOTE this is for LOCAL PICK UP ONLY and will not fit in a MINI - I would guess over 100 pounds. The wheel can be detached to make it less heavy and more packable.
