Item History & Price

Apparently there was a little cottage industry of making commemorative items out of pieces of the U.S.S. Constitution removed during her various retrofits.
This is from the 1927 retrofit. It says it was made from the hull which was famously made from Georgia Live or White oak which gave the hull it's noteworthy strength - thus "old Ironsides"
I THINK they are supposed to lo...ok like the backends of period canons?
They are a bit rough. Missing some kind of finial (pictured). A chunk out of one of them. But all things considered in pretty good shape. I haven't cleaned the ONE BIT, that there is honest grime
Curious NOTE - My grandfather was a carpenter and worked on this VERY RETROFIT of the U.S.S. Constitution although I came by this item separately
A pretty cool bit of American History from one of the most Iconic ships to ever serve in the US Navy (I think it was the FIRST ship in service? I could be wrong there)
Anyhow, a pretty neat item for those with a passion for U.S. naval history. ENJOY!
