PRETTY 1850s ANTIQUE PINK GREEN CHANGEABLE SILK GOWN IN MUSEUM QUALITY
A rare colorful antique original 1850s pre Civil War dress is made from soft pink to olive green changeable silk taffeta. The simple yet elegant bodice has most fashionably large capped pagoda sleeves epitome of the time. The triple capped sleeves are cut in pointed Van Dyke style edged with colorful pink & green silk fringe. The matching silk fringe trimmed the sleeve openings (see pic). The armcyes & neckline a...re piped. The bodice has a rounded neckline & inside is fully lined with white polished cotton. This unusual bodice not only opens at the front but in the back also with a dozen original brass hooks/eyes. The skirt attached to the waist band with cartridge pleating. The skirt is lined with fine white cotton gauge. It has a train In the back( see pic). It has a black twill hem protector. The dress is in very good most presentable condition with only a small neat period repair under the right arm & few missing hooks/eyes. Other than that it is quite worthy of a museum or would display well on a dress form in your home to admire her elegant beauty. Bodice measurements: Bust 35” bust, 23” waist, 18” Across shoulders, 19” long sleeves & measures 61” in length. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
