Original Description:
Up for auction is a primitive antique wood hand made mallet, primarily used by wheel makers, to hit between the spokes, recently found at auction in the Lancaster County PA area.  These hammers often were square or rectangular.  This one shows good use with bruising, rounded sides, concave sides.  Handle is mortised through top.  Wonderful natural wear and patina. Measures approx 8 x 2.75 x 2.25" and 12.25" handle.  Unsigned, unmarked.  Has some weight to ...it.  Quite worn, alligatored varnish.
