-Vintage Staffordshire Spaniel Dog Ceramic Mid-Century Modern Figurine Statute-This adorable statue is hand-painted white and rust colors with gold accents -He Has A Flesh Colored Snout, Black and White Eyes, and Black Paws-Gold collar around neck with chain attached -Has a firing hole on the back side-Also called "pot dogs" or "china dogs"-Of all the figures the potters created, sets of whimsical spaniels became the favorite, and came to epitomi...ze Staffordshire ceramics. Why do these quaint dogs evoke the charm of the Victorian era so well? Perhaps, it’s because they offer collectors a direct connection to Queen Victoria.-Staffordshire potters modeled their figures after dogs known as Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, named for King Charles II of England who was constantly surrounded by these merry little dogs and gave them free run at court

-12 5/16" tall, 11 7/8" long tail to ear, and 7 3/4" x 4" at widest part of the base
Condition
-Usual underglaze black spot inclusions here and there-Fine crazing with some brown staining- Usual minor loss / wear to paint, most notably to nose and ears -Age appropriate shelf wear to base-Small chip near front paw (see close-up photo)
