Up for your consideration is a mid 17th Century Ming Bowl with underglaze cobalt decoration. This type of export porcelain, is often referred to as Red Ming or more correctly, Swatow ware because of the location of the kilns in China. The enameling was applied over glaze and because the second firing to set the enameling was often at a low temperature, it is difficult to find examples has not worn off by use. This bowl is rare with the interior design ...and dragons and deer in a landscape on the exterior. It is in excellent original condition, with one worn spot on rim (see pic). It measures just under 6” in diameter and 2 1/4” in height.
