Item History & Price

Brand: Washburn | Type: Ukulele |
Size: Soprano | Body Material: Koa |
Extremely rare Hawaiian Koa & pearl ukulele, made in Chicago in 1928 at the Lyon & Healy factory for their Washburn brand. Model number 5319 stamped on the back of the peghead between the tuners. The catalog calls this model "DeLuxe", and you can see all the special features that make is such an exciting find: Koa body, pearl inlaid rosette, extra position marker dots, fancy marquetry purfling on the top and back, inlaid center strip down the back (almost never seen ...on a ukulele), unique headstock silhouette with rosewood overlay, and rosewood pin bridge. In my experience, vintage Washburn ukuleles are second only to Martin in quality, with the added bonus of being harder to find and more unique in design.CONDITION & SETUP
This gorgeous Washburn is all original with no cracks and no repairs. The original finish is in very nice shape with just a few dings & scratches. The original bridge is solidly attached with all 4 original tiny bridge pins. The only real flaw I can find is the small metal plaque on the back of the headstock is missing. Fresh professional set up with action perfectly adjusted and restrung with a set of Martin M600 strings. Loud and beautiful tone. Includes the rare vintage hardshell case with turqoise lining, in great condition. WORLDWIDE SHIPPING.
